Majordomo's Repair Cost Estimates Are Local and Accurate

Talking with many customers, we know people love the Domoreport's repair cost estimates. But, they're only really helpful if 1) they're specific to where you're located, and 2) they're accurate. Let's get into it!

"Are Majordomo's repair cost estimates local and accurate?"

The short answer:

Yes, the repair cost estimates are local and accurate! Majordomo's project estimate data is sourced from analysts that study contractor and insurance invoices for 20,000 projects from 35,000 providers for materials, equipment, labor, and installed costs across the US. This allows us to create localized estimates for your specific market.

The long answer:

Our process for providing repair cost estimate pricing includes:

  • Reviewing and understanding the time and material costs (a bottom-up method) by price surveying local wages, material, and equipment needed to perform the work.
  • Surveying project costs (a top-down method) from local subcontractors and service providers.
  • Reviewing estimate and invoice pricing of recent jobs performed in your area for the exact same repairs.

Repair Cost Estimates Summary

We provide a repair cost estimate range because it's actually more realistic. Most contractor's quotes include disclaimers regarding the final pricing being contingent on materials not increasing and no additional materials or labor required - which is in effect a +/- estimate. Our repair cost estimate range provides for unknown elements of the repair that can't be assessed until the work actually begins. The range is a result of extensive research for the exact job as it's been estimated and invoiced in your specific market. If a quote falls outside of our range, either we don't have enough information from the inspector or there may be some extraordinary circumstances and you should be asking the contractor a lot more questions.

Our pricing partner's team performs industry surveys on both time and material and project costs with more than 50,000 industry suppliers, contractors, and service providers across the continent. Each month nearly 20,000 market surveys of randomly selected contractors, suppliers, and service providers are analyzed. In addition, each month more than 400,000 repair cost estimates from 500 markets across all 50 states are also analyzed. We care so much about providing clarity to you, that our repair projects are broken down into materials, labor, equipment, minimum trip charges, quantity, measurement, and quality level.
